WHERE ARE WE? You'll find our windsurfing centre on the beach right in front of the stunning five star Columbia Beach Resort and the Columbia Beachotel sailing in this wonderful, sheltered bay. If you fancy waves and stronger wind, you'll find both in the middle of the bay or you can go out beyond the headland.
There's nothing better than feeling warm water over your feet, with a steady force 4-5 blowing. Pissouri Bay is quiet and the Columbia Beach and Resort hotels are the only hotels on the beach, underlining the point that this is a small select resort, and nothing like the booming holiday centres at Paphos, Coral Bay, Ayia Napa or Limassol.
If one of you wants luxury, while the other goes windsurfing, you've come to the perfect place. The Columbia Beach Resort offers rooms in rustic-style villas surrounding the 90-metre walk-in pool with its own wet bar - a touch of tradition with a twist of hi-tech luxury. There is a romantic taverna overlooking the palm trees and the sea with a great chance to see the moon rising at night; there are also tennis courts, a gym, indoor plunge pool, and a top-class spa offering exotic body treatments. And it's a great place to have your wedding! The Columbia Beach Resort has its own beautiful multi-faith chapel in the mediterranean gardens by the beach with an interior that will take your breath away.

A TALE OF TWO PISSOURIS FOR THE PRICE OF ONE!
Pissouri Village is about 3 kms on a hilltop away from the Bay. It's a rare gem - a traditional Cypriot village boasting a fantastic range of tavernas and bars for a relaxed nightlife. Even if you are staying in Paphos, it's well worth a visit particularly on Wednesday nights for Cyprus Night in the square. You'll love it.
The village is on a hillside 600ft above sea level and that's where the action takes places at night. It's proud of its traditional appeal - the locals love families with kids - and Pissouri has loads of tavernas around a central square.

Villas and apartments, many with pools, are handy for the night life in the village. And the reason it was built on the hillside away from the beach is that it's cooler. It gets the breezes that many prefer to the stifling humidity in the Bay area in August.
You find out more on the village's own great website at http://www.about-pissouri.com/
NEWS FLASH - A BUS SERVICE HAS STARTED TO LINK THE TWO PISSOURIS. There's now a regular mini bus service operating in a circle from Pissouri Bay to Pissouri Village for 1 euro! It stops in the bay at the Columbia Hotel. See timetable on www.about-pissouri.com. It's roughly about one every hour. And don't forget, USE IT OR LOSE IT!!! There's also talk of a bus service to Limassol and back to Pissouri. Well done to those who had the get-up-and-go to start it. Let's hope it continues.
HOTELS, VILLAS AND ROOMS IN PISSOURI VILLAGE
THE Bunch of Grapes Inn, round the corner from Pissouri Square, offers a real taste of traditional Cypriot cooking in lovely surroundings. It has rooms and a great restaurant just off the village square. You can book through Olympic Holidays or contact them direct on (00357) 25221275
OUR TOP TIP - The Hillview is one of the best restaurants on the island with a brilliant chef who can match the best in London, and tables boasting spectacular views over Pissouri Village to the distant beaches of the Akrotiri Peninusla. But maybe you didn't know that the Hillview is also a boutique hotel with rooms and apartments. It's handy for the nightlife in the village, with a short walk down into the square. You'll need to rent a car or hire a taxi to the bay and the beach, a couple of kms away (see below for telephone numbers). Breathtaking views too: Hillview (00357) 25221972 or check out their website via this link
Eve Villas are a row of smart bungalows with pools handy for the village, but a stiff walk up the hill. They are on the beach road, about quarter of a mile below the Ampthitheatre. Check them out at this link to Eve Villas. Tel: 00357 99649440.
NOTE: We can't vouch for any of the accommodation! We don't get paid for these links. It's just our impartial observation.
PISSOURI BAY CYPRUS - A TOUCH OF HEAVEN....
The beach road down from Pissouri Village to the Bay.
Beach Beds: When it's hot, you'll need a brolley and a beach bed. The beach beds in front of the Columbia Hotels are intended for hotel guests but there are plenty to rent in front of the Captain's Cabin and the Agamemnon from beach operators.
Banks: there's the Co-op Bank of Cyprus on the road to the Columbia Beach Hotel and it has an ATM but it may not take UK cards. There are three more banks with ATMs which do accept UK cards in Pissouri Village.
Supermarkets: there are three in the Bay area for all your self-catering needs, including bread, eggs, bacon, cornflakes and booze! There's also a brilliant butcher and Andros supermarket up in the hilltop Pissouri Village. There are loads of corner shops, and a big supermarket on the B6 opposite the petrol station at Pissouri Police Station.
TRADITION - YOU CAN STILL FIND IT AT PISSOURI BEACH
Agamemnon taverna on the beach...brilliant for Pitta kebabs and takeways at lunchtimes, or try the daily menu.
CYPRUS NIGHT IS BACK! After a year's gap, Pissouri Village is now staging Cyprus Night every WEDNESDAY Night in the main street (pictured above). It's a fantastic night of fun in Pissouri square with traditional dancing, amazing acts, and a sprinkling of Abba-style disco music to let your hair down with the local village people. All you have to do is book a table at one of the tavernas in Pissouri Square for a buffet dinner - the Pissouri Tavern, the Symposium, and the Vraka have ring-side seats - and the show is free. An absolute MUST for your holiday, and don't forget the camera.
Pissouri Village is a wonderful traditional hilltop village with small lanes leading to a pedestrianised square surrounded by tavernas. It has more variety at night than the Bay and tends to be cooler in August when temps hit the high 30s Centigrade but you need to know before you book, Pissouri Village is 3kms from Pissouri Bay and the beach! Most of the villas and rooms around Pissouri Village have access to a pool and regulars come back again and again to the village because of its friendly atmosphere. But you will need to hire a car or take a taxi to get to Pissouri Bay. The walk back up to the village from the Bay in the heat of summer is not recommended! For car hire see below. Get the bus or hire a taxi!!!
CAR HIRE AND TAXIS
Ring Zoe for Tarantos car hire 00357 25221416. She will arrange for your car to be parked waiting for you at the airport! Her husband John runs a taxi m: 99545038

RESTAURANTS
IN THE BAY: Limanaki for sophisticated food Tel 25221288.
Yiallos is tucked away behind the shops in Pissouri bay, but it's the top place for fish - try the fish meze (a taste of everything) for just 20 euros a head and make sure you have the fanatastic fresh kalamari Tel: 25221747.
Captain's Cabin has great views right by the sea and we can vouch for the fantastic grilled swordfish. Pork chops are good too.
PIZZAS. Jack does great pizzas in the Bay - next to Michael's sports bar. You can sit in the bar watching a premier league game and order a pizza from next door which can be brought to your table! Champion!
Bougainvillea - it's everywhere.
Restaurants around the square in Pissouri village:
Vraka Tavern 25221940, Pissouri Square Tavern 25 221 579, Symposium 222688. The Hideaway 25222310 is tucked away down the side of the Sparti pub. There's also a Chinese restaurant with take-aways and a great Pizza Place.
The aptly named Hideaway restaurant. The pork chops are to die for, until you taste the Kleftico (lamb cooked in a slow oven for hours - delicious).
You get a true taste of Cyprus in Pissouri.
